The World Star Award, presented in Dusseldorf, Germany. From a field of over 300 global individual entries, a panel of distinguished international judges in Tokyo selected Greenpak as the winner. We were recognized for the redesign of a customer’s package for polyester film shipping that resulted in a 34% reduction in annual spending – and the redesigned unit as only one pound of non-recoverable materials (a reduction from the previous 47 pounds). In addition, all items in the unit are recoverable and fully reusable.
The Sustainable Growth Excellence Award for reduced use of depleteable raw materials and energy. Greenpak was chosen by a worldwide selection committee, composed of a global customer’s external and internal experts, and based upon our program that diverted 30,000,000 pounds of packaging from landfills, reducing the customer’s packaging spending by $7,600,000.
West Virginia Business Environmental Leadership Award for superiority in Pollution Prevention through the demonstration of waste minimization by reduction and reuse. Through our system, we kept over 37,000,000 pounds of waste packaging from West Virginia’s landfills in one year – setting a standard of excellence for a sustainable economy and environment.
